Valerie Marcil
I grew up in a rigid and demanding family. Driven by a constant need for approval, the pressure of needing to be perfect impacted my self-esteem and mental health. In my teen years, I struggled with an eating disorder which soon became an unhealthy preoccupation in my life. Walking through my mental health journey allowed me to learn how to be vulnerable and find courage and strength in my story. I can understand and empathize with thoughts, feelings, and behaviours that contribute to mental health roadblocks. This helps me with my approach as a therapist to work with individuals in achieving counselling goals.
